fun commission - commissioner wants to see something in your style, gives lots of creative freedom

unfun commission - commissioner wants someone to become an extension of their brain, becoming their living, breathing art machine whose only purpose is to recreate exactly that which they cannot draw but that they see so clearly in their mind’s eye NO WHY DID YOU DRAW IT LIKE THAT THAT’S NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND THIS ISNT THE STYLE I WANTED

Hey, if you don’t mind sharing, I’ve always wondered how you got that soft celling look on your characters in your comic. Any tips? I’m currently working on my own comic and I kind of want to go for a less harsh form of cell shading. Thanks!

A couple people have asked about the way I color things and I’ve been meaning to post a tutorial on it :]. I’ve never been too good at describing my process, but I hope this helps!

Macro shots of ball point pens.

A very big thanks to the follower who sent me the new macro extension tubes from my wish list. I can’t tell you how much easier it was to get these shots with proper tubes.

Did I get close enough?

This is my old Wacom Intuos 3 4x6 tablet. I tape a piece of paper over it because it’s otherwise too slippery for me to draw with.

The added friction helps a lot, but nibs wear out very quickly. Replacement nibs aren’t cheap considering they are simple pieces of plastic, without sensors nor any other tech in them. Even a toothpick will do!

So that’s exactly what I’m using right now. And they last longer!

I just started making some references for myself, but got carried away hahah… ha :’D

I figured I’d share. I’m hoping to make a series of these things for all the drawing bits that give me trouble: woman torsos, hands, wings, different body types, etc.

I hope you also find them useful!
